About Dr. Gerard W. Bryant
Dr. Gerard W. Bryant serves as an advisor to Defendant Support, bringing extensive experience in correctional psychology and mental health services.
Federal Bureau of Prisons Career
Dr. Bryant served as Chief Psychologist at Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC-Brooklyn) and USP-Lewisburg before serving as the Northeast Regional Psychology Services Administrator for seventeen years. During his tenure, Dr. Bryant supervised over two hundred mental health professionals serving inmates in nineteen federal prisons. He retired in January 2014 as an Associate Warden/Acting Warden at MDC Brooklyn.
Private Practice and Consultation
As a licensed psychologist in private practice, Dr. Bryant provides consultation to federal, state, and local government agencies; private corporations and non-profit organizations. Dr. Bryant has presented at dozens of conferences and conducted workshops and trainings on mental health, substance abuse, crisis management and support, suicide prevention, correctional management, and hostage negotiations.
Academic Service
Since January 2005, Dr. Bryant has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department and serves as the Director of the Counseling Services Center at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY). He also teaches Beginner and Intermediate Swimming courses to John Jay undergraduates.
